Are you worried that the wire saw beads are not hard enough? Sagwell's pre-alloyed powder SFN-11 is here

2025-03-12

Many diamond tool customers who make wire saws are worried about the problem of insufficient bead hardness when developing wire saw formulas. When cutting rough materials, concrete, and hard stone, the carcass hardness is insufficient, cracking occurs prematurely, and the head size is uneven, which greatly reduces efficiency and causes quality fluctuations. Recently, SFN-11, a pre-alloyed powderfor wire saw formulas, was launched by Sagwell.

SFN-11 is a multi-component (iron, Copper, nickel, tin, manganese, molybdenum) pre-alloyed powder. It is a raw material for increasing the hardness of the matrix, improving cutting performance and wear resistance. It can be added 100% and used as a granite/steel mixed wire saw matrix with only diamond added; it can also be added 50-80% as the main raw material for the matrix formula.

The particle size is ultra-fine, the organizational structure is uniform and delicate, and the sintering activity is excellent. The high-temperature hot pressing sintering temperature recommended by Segawell is 780-820℃. Since too high a temperature will cause greater loss to low-melting-point alloy materials, we do not recommend sintering above 850 degrees.
SFN-11 has good self-shrinkage characteristics. It can reach a hardness of more than 105HRB and a density of 92% by pressureless sintering at above 900 degrees.

Therefore, the raw material is particularly suitable for preparing combined wire saw beads by pressureless sintering process.
In addition to wire saw applications, SFN-11 also works well when added to tool formulations that require a significant increase in hardness, such as:
Sandstone chips, kerbstone chips, floor grinding blocks, water drills (reinforced concrete), etc.

Segwell's pre-alloyed powder formula simplifies the low-temperature material segregation problem caused by customers preparing single-element powder by themselves, and can also improve the hardness of wire saw beads.
